    Charles absolute Lord and Prop.ry of this Provinces of Maryland & Avalon
    Lord Baron Baltemore &c. To all persons to whom these presents shall Come greeting
    in our Lord God everlasting. Know yee that for & in consideration that John Bayley of
    Charles County Planter hath due unto him One hundred Eight Seven Acres of Land
    within this our said Province of Maryland by assignment from Capt. Randolph Brandt
    of the same County Assigned of John Addison of St. Maries County Gent. Honorable of
    Thomas Dent late of the said County of St. Maries Deceased part of a warrt for Twelve
    hundred Acres granted to the said Dent the One and twentieth day of June Anno One
    thousand six hundred seventy and five as appears upon Record and upon Such Conditions &
    terms as are expressed in the Conditions of plantation of our late Father Cecilius &c. of
    noble memory according to his Declaration bearing date the two and twentieth day of
    September Anno One thousand Six hundred fifty eight with such allocations as in
    them is made by his instructions to us bearing date the Eight & twentieth day of
    July One thousand Six hundred Sixty Ninth and the One & twentieth day of March
    then next following All doing & remaining upon Record in our said Province
    of Maryland Wee do hereby grant unto him the said John Bayley All that tractor
    parcell of land lying in Charles County aforesaid called Bayleys Rest beginning at a
    bounded Chestnut Oak standing near the Clift by a path running toward North sixty
    perches to a bounded Locust post thence East five hundred perches to a bound Hickory
    Thence South sixth perches to a bounded White Oak. Thence west to the first bound tree
    Containing One hundred Eighty and Seven Acres more or less and bounds on North
    and South with two severall tracts of Land belonging to John Pope. On the west with
    Potomack River on the East with the Lands of John Clark according to the Certificate
    of Survey there of taken and returned into our Office for Lands at our Citty of St. Maries
    bearing date the fourth day of this Instant August and remaining upon Record in our
    said Office together with all Rights proffits and benefits there unto belonging (Royall Mines
    excepted) to have & to hold the same unto him the said John Bayley his heirs and
    Assigned forever to beholden of us and our heirs as of Manr of Zachiah in free
    and Common Soccage by fealty only for all manner of Services Yielding & paying
    therefore yearly unto us and our heirs at our Receipt at our citty of St. Maries at the two
    most usuall feasts in the year vizt at the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin
    Mary and at the feast of St. Michael the Archangell by even and equall portion the Rent
    Seven Shillings & five pence half penny sterl[ing] in Silver or Gold And for a fine upon every
    alienation of the said Land or any part or parcel thereof One whole year of Rent in Silver or Gold
    or the full value thereof in such Condition as Wee or our heirs or such Officer or Officers
    as shall be appointed by us or our Heirs from time to time to collect & receive the same shall
    accept in discharge thereof at the choice of us and our heirs or such Officer or Officers as aforesaid
    Provided the if the said sum for a time for alienation shall not be paid unto us & our heirs or
    such Officer or Officers as aforesaid and the said alienation entred upon Record either in the
    Provincial Court or in the County Court where the said parcell of Land lyeth within one month next
    after such alienation the said alienation shall be void and of no Effect Given at our Citty of St.
    Maires under the great Seal of our said Province of Maryland this Seventeenth day of August in
    the fifth year of our Dominion &c. Annoque Domi One thousand Six hundred & Eighty Witness our self.
